Social Value - The Hill Way

 

In 2021 we will measure our Social Value added on all Hill activities and report on it.  That will allow us to create a Social Value Plan and set clear targets for 2022 and beyond.

Apprentices and Trainees

Hill commitment to recruiting new entrants in the workforce continues to grow, despite the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. 1 in 4 Hill employees are either currently on our trainee programme or a graduate from the programme. With 118 trainees’ currently across our business increasing to 127 in September 2021, Hill have approximately 17% of the business engaged in our bespoke management trainee programme.

In addition to this our projects are committed to 5% of apprentices with many reporting 6% and above. For example on our Aylesbury Estate in Southwark we will provide a wide range of job and training opportunities for Southwark residents, including 224 sustained jobs, 98 apprenticeships and 105 training places.

Women into Construction Partnership

Hill are proud to be the only Platinum partner of Women in Construction and we are passionate about addressing gender imbalance in the construction industry.

During Covid-19, we have adapted our WiC training and mentoring programmes to ensure women continue to gain advice and training during lockdown via platforms such as Facebook Live, Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

Foundation 200

Our Foundation 200 units were constructed off site at Waterbeach Barracks by the New Meaning Foundation, a charitable social enterprise which trains young,
disadvantaged and formerly homeless people in modern methods of construction, showing the passion that Hill have for tackling the crisis through not only providing accommodation but training and employing those who have been or are at risk of homelessness.
