Penny Bond is new to the industry and was referred to Women into Construction to gain access to a work placement to increase her knowledge and skills as a document controller.

Penny spent 10 days on the Hill Wimbledon site, shadowing the document control team and learning to use the document control system Aconex.  Penny adapted to her new working environment and fitted in well with the team. She was punctual, reliable, polite, and showed real enthusiasm for everything she did on site.

Penny improved her IT skills in general and use of Excel in particular, as well as becoming familiar with the terminologies used in construction, and the importance of attention to detail and consistency of information.

At the end of the placement, Penny went from a shy personality to a bubbly member of the team and was grateful to be given the opportunity to learn new skills for the future.

I feel that Penny’s social skills in a professional environment have developed tremendously. Penny was able to adapt very quickly and has gained a variety of skills from different team members. Penny was a great help, and we wish her every success in gaining employment as an entry level document controller.
