What is a Zero Bills home?

Zero Bills is a world-first initiative from Octopus, which makes clean energy usage simple and affordable. A Zero Bills home generates enough renewable energy to cover usage, resulting in no cost to the occupant. It's a win-win situation for residents and Octopus, as the company sells any spare energy produced by Zero Bills homes to the grid.

How does Zero Bills work? 

Zero Bills homes are typically new builds, like the houses and bungalows at Hollymead Square. The combination of renewable energy, smart technology and the home's design specification makes unlocking the Zero Bills tariff possible.

A heat pump, solar panels and a battery supply power to each home. Octopus takes care of all the technology through its AI-powered platform, Kraken, optimising energy efficiency to run the home economically. This allows occupants to use electricity and heat their homes for free.
