Upsizing Without Leaving the Area They Love

Homebuyers Seena Karthik and Karthik Kumar have swapped their mid-terrace house in Rickmansworth for a spacious detached home at stunning Millside Grange by award-winning housebuilder, The Hill Group. Buying in Croxley Green in Hertfordshire meant the couple, could upsize and move into an exceptional new home while remaining in the area they have always loved. Their beautiful new home also provides outstanding access to nature – something Seena and Karthik particularly cherish. 

Seena and Karthik purchased a four-bedroom detached house featuring a generous garden, a large, open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, and a separate living room, which they use as a more formal space for entertaining guests. With the additional square footage gained from their move, the couple now have ample room for their son Ashwin to relax and unwind when he’s home from university.

A Stress-Free Move with Part Exchange

Having lived in Rickmansworth since 2007, where they enjoyed Hertfordshire’s excellent primary and secondary grammar education system for Ashwin, Seena and Karthik knew they wanted to stay in the area for their next move. They had extended their previous, mid-terrace home as much as possible, but the space still wasn’t ideal. The couple used Hill’s part-exchange process to move to Millside Grange, buying a home with additional space and a layout far better suited to their needs. 

Karthik recalls: “The whole part-exchange process was very stress-free. We were really happy with it. Hill gave us excellent value for our previous property and did all the legwork for us. When they initially told us we had 28 days to exchange, we were worried that the timescale was too short, but actually, it was perfect. Hill arranged the valuation, the solicitor and everything.”

Seena adds: “It helped that we were well organised with our paperwork, but the Hill team were too. The documentation and follow-ups were all very well-ordered and the communication was clear throughout. Buying a brand-new home was a big part of the appeal for Seena and Karthik when they first began looking at Millside Grange. The high quality of the home and the size of the garden were also major plus points. 

Seena explains: “We wanted a home where we could move in and not be facing renovation work or any major changes to the property. We’ve always loved new builds for that reason, and we have found the perfect home here at Millside Grange. 

She continues: “I love the open, spacious feel of the kitchen. It’s perfect for cooking while also entertaining. There’s plenty of room for our dining table and chairs, and with bi-fold glass doors looking out over the garden, it’s a bright and special space. It’s really beautiful in summer, and the whole house feels very bright and open.”

Community, Connectivity and Green Space

Already big fans of Rickmansworth, with its vibrant mix of shops, restaurants, and leisure venues, Seena and Karthik are pleased to have now set down roots in the adjacent suburb of Croxley Green. With its rich history, inviting pubs, and thriving sports clubs, the area offers plenty to see and do. Grateful for the opportunity to upsize while staying within a community they love, the couple are delighted to continue enjoying the lifestyle they cherish in their beloved neighbourhood. 

Seena, who works for a data company in Uxbridge, and Karthik, who works for a London IT service company, work from home several days each week, and their new home has the right amount of space to accommodate this. Karthik continues: “Millside Grange is exceptionally well located for commuters, as the connectivity to London is excellent. Croxley Green station, a convenient 15-20-minute walk from here, is on the Metropolitan Line. Watford station is also nearby and provides National Rail services. It makes getting into London a breeze.” 

“There’s so much here for residents of all ages to enjoy. It’s a very safe and serene location, and it feels so peaceful, but there’s also plenty to do in the local area. It’s a superb place to raise a family. There are local sports clubs, an abundance of green spaces to enjoy, and both Rickmansworth and Watford are within easy reach.”

When they're not at work, Seena and Karthik make the most of the outdoors, enjoying daily walks together through the scenic rural surroundings. Living in Millside Grange provides the perfect base for this, with numerous picturesque routes just steps from their new home. 

Seena explains: “We love to walk – we walk for an hour each day, no matter what season it is, so being surrounded by so much greenery is wonderful, in fact, there are beautiful woods just behind Millside Grange. It’s definitely called Croxley Green for good reason! We also have Cassiobury Park nearby, which has gorgeous waterways and ancient trees. You can really immerse yourself in nature there. It’s a fabulous location.” 

The nature-loving couple were pleased by Millside Grange’s excellent sustainability credentials. Their impressive home features an air-source heat pump, which has already saved them money on their energy bills, and an electric vehicle charging point, which they use to plug in their hybrid car. Karthik also plans to install solar panels within the next year.
