First-time buyers Laura and Diogo found their ideal home at Chesterford Meadows, allowing them to stay close to the village they grew up in while supporting their active, outdoor-focused lifestyle.

A Dream First Home Close to Where It All Began

For first-time buyers Laura Anderson and her partner, Diogo Rodrigues, being able to purchase a home in the area they grew up in is a dream come true. Laura and Diogo have found their perfect first home at Chesterford Meadows in the picturesque village of Great Chesterford, developed by the award-winning housebuilder, The Hill Group.

Laura, a secondary school PE teacher, and Diogo, a business development manager in the pharmaceutical industry, were eager to find a home that would accommodate their active lifestyle. As someone who has always been involved in athletics, Laura needed a home close to places where she could train and enjoy her passion for fitness and sports.

I’ve been an athlete my whole life, and one of the biggest things for me was staying close to the athletics track where I trained as a child. I’m still actively involved in athletics, and I needed to make sure I could continue doing that without too much disruption. Living here is perfect for me because the track is just a short drive away, so I’m able to keep up with my training and I even compete now and then. It’s nice to know I can return to the same track all these years later from my new home.

Football, Community, and Easy Travel Links

For Diogo, who enjoys playing football twice a week and supports his local football team as well as Chelsea FC, the home’s proximity to both the football fields and the village’s social scene was ideal. Diogo says:

“For me, I wanted to remain close to the local football club. It’s not just about playing football twice a week, but also supporting my local team and watching their games. Now our home is walking distance to Great Chesterford train station, it makes travelling to London to watch football games far easier.”

Finding Space to Grow Without Compromise

Previously renting a smaller two-bedroom home, Laura and Diogo had outgrown their space and were eager to upsize. Their new home at Chesterford Meadows, a three-bedroom detached property comprising three bathrooms, a landscaped garden, and ample parking space, gave them the freedom and flexibility they had been looking for.

Diogo explains:

“We didn’t want to feel cramped anymore, and this home gives us plenty of room to grow. What really stood out to us is that Chesterford Meadows itself is quiet and well-maintained with fewer homes than other developments, giving it a unique charm and welcoming feel.”

What’s more, the fact that we were able to purchase the show home that we first viewed was a bonus. The home came with high-end kitchen appliances, solar panels, and a fully landscaped garden. It just made the whole move-in process so much easier for us

Surrounded by Countryside and Community

Located within the National Character Area of East Anglian Chalk, Chesterford Meadows is surrounded by rolling hills and endless fields that offer views over the surrounding countryside, while the community connections of the village are just a few minutes away. Great Chesterford is the quintessential, ancient English village – with traditional architecture, a true sense of community, and shops, pubs, and the boutique Tudor-style Crown House Hotel all within walking distance from Chesterford Meadows.

The Perfect Balance Between Rural Living and Connectivity

Location was key for Laura and Diogo. Having grown up in the tranquil countryside, they didn’t want to move into a bustling city or town, so Chesterford Meadows strikes the perfect balance, offering a quiet, close-knit community alongside excellent transport links. A nearby train station reaches Cambridge directly in just 15 minutes, and London in just over an hour.

Laura shares:
“We love living in the countryside, so moving into a busy environment was not really an option for us. At the same time, we didn’t want to feel completely isolated. Chesterford Meadows offers the perfect balance, as it’s peaceful without being remote. My work is just a 20-minute drive away, and with the train station right around the corner, commuting is incredibly convenient. It truly is the best of both worlds. Plus, we’re surrounded by fantastic local businesses, like Day’s Bakery, a community favourite for lunch, and The Crown & Thistle, a charming local pub where we love to meet friends.”

Settling In and Looking to the Future

Now that they’ve settled in, Laura and Diogo are excited to make the house their own, through hosting family get-togethers and adding their own personal touches to the décor. At Chesterford Meadows, Laura and Diogo have found a home that fits their needs both now and for the future – a perfect balance of modern convenience in a rural setting, and access to an active, fulfilling life.
