Reaching new heights at Motion with Waltham Forest Council and Peabody

TEAM

Last week, we hosted a Topping Out Ceremony with our joint venture partners Peabody at our Lea Bridge Road development, Motion, to celebrate reaching the highest point in the build.

In attendance was leader of Waltham Forest Council, Cllr Clare Coghill, who was also joined by our deputy CEO, Greg Hill, and Brendan Sarsfield, CEO of Peabody.

Motion, designed by award-winning architects Pollard Thomas Edwards, marks the beginning of the next phase of regeneration of Lea Bridge and Leyton, which are key areas established as part of Waltham Forest’s Economic Growth Strategy. Located on the doorstep of Lea Bridge station, the development includes three modern high-rise buildings and six surrounding mansion apartment blocks, containing over 300 contemporary homes, as well as 18,000 sq. ft commercial space.

Homes at Motion are available through a mix of purchasing routes, including private sale, where home purchasers can utilise the Government’s Help to Buy scheme on homes under £600,000. Of the 300 homes, 57% of the will be affordable, through shared ownership or affordable rent. The first residents moved in at the end of August 2019, with more residents expected to move in towards the end of the year and early next year.

Waltham Forest Council has a target of providing 18,000 new high-quality homes on the next 10 years. To achieve that we have to work with partners who share our ideals of giving local people a decent roof over their heads. This partnership with Peabody and Hill demonstrates how successful such partnerships can be. It’s great news that the first residents have already moved in to their new homes and I am delighted to perform the topping out ceremony for this fantastic scheme.

Cllr Clare Coghill, Leader of Waltham Forest Council

Motion is a significant development for us and we’re proud to celebrate reaching this landmark in the build. We’re delighted that we have been able to deliver the first new homes in the Lea Bridge regeneration area. Our partnership with Peabody continues to thrive as we have all shared the same vision from day one – building high quality homes and creating a landmark development. It’s great to see happy residents settling in already and we look forward to welcoming more to their new homes in the future.

Greg Hill, Deputy Chief Executive at Hill

These top-quality homes on Lea Bridge Road will be a great addition for Leyton, alongside new open spaces to benefit the whole community. Our partnership with Hill is delivering over 900 new homes in East London, and we’re pleased to be playing our part in supporting the regeneration of Waltham Forest.

Brendan Sarsfield, Chief Executive at Peabody

Prices for one-bedroom apartments at Motion start at £345,000, with Help to Buy available on all homes under £600,000, helping first time buyers on to the property ladder. Find out more about our Motion development here: https://motion-e10.co.uk.
